Josie Visits!

Well well! Baby Josie is a week out of the nest and yesterday she came to the back yard and let us take a couple of photographs. Not too many though, you can't let those humans take advantage!

More worryingly, Gitie was driving down the road later in the day and she saw Josie walking beside the road with nobody monitoring her safety. Really Maggie! We've tried to keep our birds wary of cars by never calling to them from the car, so they don't start thinking cars aren't dangerous. When they grow up, they might move to a territory with a lot more cars nearby, so it is important they get some understanding of them before then.

Gitie also tells me she saw one of Billy's bubs in the back tree, and it responded when she spoke to it. But Billy hasn't brought them near yet, and he might not, seeing as Maggie hasn't officially permitted Billy to get food from us. We'll keep in touch with our neighbour for more information about Billy's brood.
